AGO::LP1:Days1&2

Finally got this record off the ground.  After going through 4 different demo sessions in North Atlanta, 2 days of preproduction in East Atlanta, and 2 days of prepoduction in the mountainous small holland like german town of Helen, GA, we have started tracking our record.

We’ve basically been going in the last two mornings, tracked drums until 6pm and then moving to bass.  It’s taken some time as we are picking every section of every song is right and sounding exactly the way we want it for the record.  Literally, every drum hit is being analyzed.  We were able to get a great drum tech, Lane Johnson, for this record.  He has an amazing ear from drums.  He’s keeping all the drums tuned during the songs, setting up the drum mics, and getting some AMAZING drum tones.

Gordon’s using a couple different snare drums and cymbals, depending on what the song calls for.  There are even some tracks, where we’re changing snare drums within the song to get the exact tones we want for each section of each song.

For bass, Mike’s brought in a couple of different basses, heads, cabs, and pedals.  Once again, we’ve messed around with the different gear to get the best tones for each section of each song.  That has been time consuming, but the resulting bass tones are astounding to me.

Today we’re going to do a live videostream of Gordon tracking some drums for the record.  It’ll start at 4pm at http://www.tinyurl.com/agolivedrums on UStream.  Afterwards, we’ll sit down and have a Q&A with everyone watching via UStream Chat Room.  Be sure to check it out and tell your friends as well.

These songs are coming together slowly but surely.  And we’re really excited to share them with everyone who’s invested and believed so much in us up until now.
